American Cruise Lines Brand-New American Glory Sets Sail

american glory cruise ship

American Cruise Lines has been on an ambitious newbuild program for several years now, and American Glory is the latest in a line of hybrid catamaran ships that can explore coastal ocean waters or inland rivers with ease. The catamaran hull features an aft activity platform/Marina (at the stern) from where are launched the ship's kayaks. At the stern is also mounted the tender boat which is used for passenger transportation as well as for cruising close to shore and on shallow inland waterways. We chose the inaugural Florida Gulf Coast Cruise on the brand new American Glory.

Sky Suite Private Balcony

These new “go anywhere” ships blend the best qualities of expedition adventure cruising with the refinement, luxury, stability, and land proximity of river cruising. Full-length sliding glass doors lead out to a private balcony complete with a private dining area, the perfect place to enjoy breakfast or watch the sun set. As you cruise, enjoy the comforts of a fine hotel, including a roomy bath, large closet, sitting area, and a desk. The largest accommodations are located forward on Deck 4 - Sky Suite (425 ft2 / 40 m2) and Grand Suite (550 ft2 / 51 m2), with sizes including their terraces.

American Glory Itineraries Will Focus on the U.S. East Coast

Entertainment quality was mixed, very good on some nights and very poor on other nights. This was probably due to the brand new itinerary and the Christmas holiday period. Our cabin was great but there was a little engine noise since we were in the rear of the ship. We can strongly recommend this cruise if you wish a friendly, quiet, and intimate cruise experience. Launched shortly after the series flagship, American Eagle, and the new riverboat American Serenade, American Glory underscores the company's market strength and its unique capability to offer a growing range of 100% U.S. itineraries along rivers and coasts.

Current itinerary of ACL American Glory

Each room has a large bathroom, wardrobe, ample drawer storage, under bed suitcase storage, 54” inch led TV, writing desk, safe, and complimentary WiFi. Aboard American Glory, land never out of sight, allowing guests even more time to explore each port. The modern interior, designed by Studio DADO, the Miami based firm responsible for the interior designs of our newest modern riverboats, offers our guests an unprecedented level of comfort and elegance and evokes a sense of pride and appreciation for U.S. history. The choice of color palettes, furnishings, and art work will reflect the culture of the Chesapeake Bay, and Southeast. As you cruise, relax in your luxurious staterooms and enjoy a front row seat to the beautiful passing scenery.

There is no public walkway in front of any cabin, therefore all windows and balconies are completely private. Perched high above the water, each 310-square-foot Vista Private Balcony stateroom offers all the comforts of a fine hotel with commanding views of the passing scenery. Large floor-to-ceiling glass doors lead to a comfortable balcony with a table and chairs. Vista rooms have a large bathroom, wardrobe, ample drawer storage, under bed suitcase storage, 54” inch led TV, writing desk, safe, and complimentary WiFi. The AAA staterooms are the largest standard rooms on any riverboat with 310 square feet of interior space. Each main deck room features large picture windows with water views and a built-in reading nook.

Of all staterooms, only 8 (all positioned forward on Deck 1/category AAC) are without balconies. “Terrific, the best we’ve had at the ports really,” August Courville said, a passenger from Louisiana. The naming ceremony marked a significant event at Mallory Square, a docking location for the ship during the Florida Gulf Coast & Keys cruises, operating roundtrip from St. Petersburg. American Cruise Lines accepted delivery of the 100-passenger small ship from Chesapeake Shipbuilding on-time as scheduled. The cruise ship was last drydock refurbished in 2015 and was decommissioned in 2019.

Prices started from $7005 (AAC), $7580 (AAM), $7720 (Single), $8435 (Veranda Suite), $9525 (Sky Suite), $11730 (Grand Suite). Two Lifts (passenger elevators in the Atrium/midship) and indoor stairs (forward and midship) connect all cabin decks (1 thru 4). Aft outdoor staircases interconnect decks 3-4 (Sky Lounge's Cafe with Sun Deck). VIP guests were Arlo Haskell (Safer Cleaner Ships) and Albert Childress (Key West City Manager).

The 100-passenger small ship was delivered on schedule from Chesapeake Shipbuilding. It is the latest addition to ACL's series of 12 new Coastal Cats designed for exploring the USA's waterways. More vessels in the series are currently in construction, with the next two expected for delivery in 2024. MS American Glory also offered special 14-day "East Coast Inland Passage" relocation cruises out of Jacksonville FL (Spring) and Baltimore MD (Fall). ACL American Glory itinerary program was initially planned to start on October 29, 2023, with the 11-day maiden voyage ("American Revolution Cruise" itinerary roundtrip from Baltimore MD). However, the inaugural cruise was postponed twice - first for November 18th (11-day "American Revolution Cruise" roundtrip from Baltimore) and eventually for November 28th (22-day "Complete Southeast Cruise"/relocation itinerary from Baltimore to St Petersburg Florida).
